Kidney Failure, Spring Days, Publix, Brackets, and Walks

So my title may be a little dramatic, but sadly its something we're kinda dealing with.  Sarah Anne was in the hospital about 6 months ago with a urinary tract infection and was severely dehydrated.  Although it was completely unrelated through this the doctors discovered that her left kidney was not completely right.  She had a duplicated collection system (or as her Daddy calls it "extra parts") and at the time realized that she had some blockage of the kidney that they thought was due to the infection.  So we go to the follow up appointment this week to find out that apparently the blockage has worsened and surgery may be in our future.  We go for another test on Tuesday which will hopefully tell us more and will determine the function of her left kidney.  If it is equal with the right kidney then they just watch it and if it is not fully functioning then she may need surgery.  Needless to say this was the LAST thing in the world that we expected to hear and its taken awhile to soak it.  Through it all though we have clearly seen where God's hand is truly on our sweet girl.  The doctor said had she not had the UTI and not been hospitalized then they never would have found it and if that was the case 10-15 years down the road Sarah Anne would have had a lot of pain and likely would have to have her kidney removed because it would have completely failed.  So as much as we hate dealing with this to save her kidneys is well worth it.  Please keep us in your prayers as we go through this.

Now on a happier note, our sweet girl that is going through all this doesn't seem to have a clue.  We have really enjoyed the warmer weather and love going on walks and playing outside.  Sarah Anne is truly experiencing "March Madness" much more than last year and her Daddy is informing her of all the important picks for Duke to win!

Sarah Anne loves her car from Buddy and Nana...its fun to push and ride in.

What is that over there?

Yes Mama?  I'm going to go over here now....

The pictures loaded weird, this one is from her day with Dada.  You notice the ones with the bonnet are with her Mommy, hatless are with Dada.

I'm just going for a little drive

No more bonnet please.

She fell and had to brush her hands off before she could carry on, definitely her Mama's girl.

We LOVE Publix and they love Sarah Anne and give her balloons!

See my balloon?

Oh Mommy please save me, Dada is telling me about this bracket again....

Ok Daddy I'll be serious and listen.

Oh really?

Oh my!!!

Ready for our walk!

Oh hey!  You are still here?

First Birthday at Disney World

Sarah Anne had a GREAT first birthday.  She got to spend it with her Nana, Buddy, Aunt Amy, Gigi, Pops, Mimi, Uncle Todd and of course her Mommy and Daddy.  Although we were fighting against a chicken pox/measles shot and didn't sleep much everyone pitched in and we all had a great time!!  Here are some pictures of the big one year old birthday party and DISNEY WORLD!!
Sarah Anne's very own birthday cake!

The Winnie-the-Pooh cake for everyone else.

It took a little while but Sarah Anne finally dug in!

This cake is very yummy!!

Time to open presents!!

Sarah Anne wanted to talk to everyone instead of opening presents.

Sarah Anne loves her Bible from Gigi and Pops!

Pops and Sarah Anne!

The "It's a Small World" ride...notice the OHHH face.

Sarah Anne's favorite ride, "The People Mover".  Its a car on a track that goes around one of the areas and goes inside and looks at different rides.  She LOVED the wind blowing on her face.

Sarah Anne had her Nana!

Sarah Anne LOVES her Buddy!

The poor baby had just woken up from her nap and was already ready for another nap, but she tried to enjoy the parade from her Daddy's head.

Sleepy Baby

Sarah Anne went home with Mimi, Nana, Gigi, and Pops so her Mommy and Daddy could ride big kids rides with Aunt Amy, Buddy, and Uncle Todd.

The Safari Ride at Animal Kingdom

Riding with Nana and Buddy, trying to spot the animals.

Mimi and Pops!

As you can see we were starting to get sleepy again, but still having fun!

Where is that animal?

Mommy and Daddy got to go ride some more big kid rides thanks to Nana and Mimi!!

As you can see we had an AMAZING time!!  And at the end of it all I finally completed my first half marathon thanks to the encouragement of my sweet husband.  Thanks to everyone who went with us and help make it a super fun time!!

Laundry, Eating, and Bags from Mimi

I cannot get over how quickly Sarah Anne is growing up.  It seems like everyday is something new.  She is a very busy girl and is always willing to "help".  This week she has really helped with the laundry.  I had my piles sorted and apparently they were not up to Sarah Anne's satisfaction.

This was my original pile.

Sarah Anne working very hard "fixing" it.

Fixed just the way she liked it thrown all over the kitchen floor.

We have also been working on eating with a spoon/fork.  Sarah Anne is an EXCELLENT eater and talks the whole time she eats.  Even if you are a terrible cook she will make you feel like you are the best ever.  Anyway, these are a few pictures of our attempts to eat with a fork instead of our hands.

You see the fork is very close to her mouth, but her hand is the faster choice.
YAY!!  We did it! One time the whole meal counts right?
Pausing for a picture to show how messy we are with rice stuck to our face.
Oh well at least she can hold her cup by herself!

Lastly, Sarah Anne has recently discovered purses/bags.  She is a very girly girl, which we are a little unsure about!!  Mimi had given her a bag with her name on it and she has collected things and carries it around like its her purse.  She loves to climb into her car with it and drag it around where ever she is going.
Yes Mama?  I love my bag.

I love how she looks like she's about to fly with her foot in the air.

Oh I found some keys!

In Sarah Anne's bag: keys, a phone, a pack of rice, a spoon, and half an Easter egg

Getting ready to take off...

This is her holding it on her shoulder.  SO CUTE!!
